Sherizaan Minwalla has over 20 years of experience practicing immigration law and working in international development in the Middle East.

Ms. Minwalla received her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2002. She holds a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Cincinnati.

At the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago, she represented individuals seeking protection under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). She taught at the International Human Rights Law Clinic at the Washington College of Law, and was the Legal Director for the Tahirih Justice Center, supporting women and girls fleeing gender-based violence in Washington DC.

Ms. Minwalla has worked internationally in Iraq on access to justice and human rights programs supporting displaced and refugee communities with a particular focus on survivors of gender-based violence and conflict related sexual violence. She has supported individuals to access asylum and refugee protection as well as humanitarian parole.
