Federal government shutdown & immigration services
January 11, 2019By Christina Murdoch
As the Federal government shutdown nears the end of its third week, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ offices continue to be open and to process applications for immigration benefits such as adjustment of status and naturalization. U.S. consulates are also continuing to process visa applications and hold visa interviews. However, non-detained immigration courts are closed and are not accepting filings or holding hearings. Hearings canceled due to the shutdown will be rescheduled once the government reopens. Detained immigration courts are operating as normal.
